Introduction

On Friday March 18 2005 a delegation of the ‘Committee New Benelux’ presented the Manifest ‘Towards a new Benelux’ (ref. pertaining tab) to the Chairman of the INTERPARLIAMENTARY BENELUX COUNCIL, Mr. Frans de Nerée tot Babberich, in the Hague. The authors of this Manifest are:

EM. PROF. Dr. H. GYSELS, Universiteit Gent

Since that time the ‘Committee’ has propagated the views expressed in the Manifest.

In the meantime (mid september 2008) allmost 500 prominent academicians, politicians and industrialists have confirmed their support to the Manifest by undersigning this document

Under the tab ‘Motivation’ you will find a document in which the reasoning and justification of the objectives of the Committee have been clarified in more detail. Specifically the motives concerning the pursuit of political cooperation have been highlighted.

Next to the Committee’s Board (ref. pertaining tab)  some twenty former and present top-politicians and public governors have given their support to the initiative by forming the Committee of Recommendation. (ref. pertaining tab)

Finally the ‘Committee’ offers you the possibility to give your opinion with regard to the views as presented. Through the tab Your Reaction, you can convey your opinion or decide to become a signatory to the Manifest.
